We use darcs instead of e.g. subversion because it has some unique 
features that no other version control tool has.  We acknowledge that 
these new features mean that people have to adapt -- like mesh 
refinement and unigrid, new features often cannot be used as black box.

By the way, the output of "darcs" without arguments does tell what the 
equivalent of the 'check in' command is called, and there is a good 
reason why it has a different name.

I'm not saying that I would recommend darcs for the job of publishing 
Cactus, but I hope that a discussion is based on facts and not on 
opinionated letters written by people who state that they do not know 
("[...] or whatever it was called [...]") the subject matter.
